Welcome to the 28 Day Challenge to Fill Your Home with Love! I’m so glad you’re here!
You can sign up and get the emails sent to your inbox at the end of this blog post. But before we get there, let me ask you a question — When you walk into your home, do you breathe a sigh of relief, or does your stress level go up?
Does your heart fill up with something like “yay, all my favorite people are here and look at everyone’s smiling faces!” Look! Even the dog is dancing as you all break out into song!” (Ha!)
That might actually happen in an episode of Fuller House on Netflix (which I’m not afraid to say I enjoy watching! Haha!)
But in real life, if I’m honest, that’s not what happens when I get home. It feels like I go from the “rush of busyness” at work to another round of busyness at home. I’ll hug and ask my kids how was school and then it’s a bunch of TO DOs:
- Please empty your lunch box, guys!
- Do you have homework?
- Are you hungry?
- What do you want to eat?
- Can you please start your homework?
- Baby, please go change for gymnastics, we’re leaving in 10 minutes.
- Did you guys NOT empty your lunch boxes?
- Alexa, what’s the temperature? (It’s actually been COLD in Houston!)
- Ok, guys, please grab your jackets. We have to go!
Are we all THAT BUSY?
Sometimes, while all this is going on, I try to send out a few emails, do a load of laundry, dishes or vacuum upstairs. At some point, we also let our dog, Ella, outside then negotiate with snacks to get her back in.
We rush out the door and sometimes grab an afternoon Starbucks (because momma needs some caffeine and sugar!) Everyone has sports practices or whatever, and by the time we get home, it’s often 9:30pm.
Sometimes, I drop the kids off at their sports and come back home to cook, so we have something ready when we get home. Shout out to my beloved Instant Pot. Other times, we just grab something on the way home.
Guilty Mom Moment
By the time we wrap things up and everyone’s ready for bed, I’m exhausted and inevitably end up with a “Guilty Mom Moment”:
Does my family know I love them?

Have we been so rushed and stressed, always busy, doing all the things, running around, scarfing down food on the go … that we never stopped to, you know, LOVE each other?
Is this normal? Are we all living like this?
The other day, I had a conversation with my sister and she said “no.” Their home life is different. She works from home and her hubby works nearby. By 5pm, everyone’s home and they don’t have any other plans but to … be home.
My husband said the same thing about his home life. He grew up with two, full-time working parents, but they’d be home by 6 or 7pm and that was it. Dinner, homework, chores and bedtime. Maybe he’d have time to play with neighborhood friends. But that was it.
So whether you can relate to my hubby & sister’s “home by 5pm” life or my current “uber busy life with sports till 9pm,” I’m willing to bet that we could all stand to fill up our homes with a little more love.
The challenge, for the next 28 days, will be very simple (because I honestly don’t have time for anything else! LOL)

Day 1: Write a Note.
This love note can be on a plain notebook page or a thank you note you had on your desk. If you’re running errands and can grab a cute Valentine’s card, great! Can’t do that? No problem!
The challenge for today is to write your family a sweet note and let them know how much you love them.
You can write one note for the whole family or small, individual notes for each person. Alternatively, you can leave a big note on the fridge, or give it to them during dinner. You can slip them in lunchboxes, too! And the note(s) can be funny or mushy and sentimental.
It’s up to YOU!
