Oh man, I’m so sad.
My friend Amanda, who is beautiful (like, stunningly gorgeous) …
sings like an angel …
& not that long ago married her prince …
got some tough news.
They did a biopsy and found cancer in her throat … again.
Amanda has had the most amazing positive attitude through her cancer battle.
She is blessed with incredible support from family and friends, and the outpouring of love on her Facebook announcement that the cancer is back is overwhelming.
But this just sucks. #CancerSucks
My own hubby just went thru surgery at MD Anderson last month to remove a brain tumor (again.)
I’m thankful that both times (2004 & 2016), it’s been a benign tumor.
But going thru things that threaten our lives, our stability, our future and the people we love, can be really scary.
Yesterday, I was practicing a song I’m singing in church on Sunday. I used to play this song on the radio a lot when I was a DJ on KSBJ.
Part of the song says:
“What if our greatest disappointments, and the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy”
The song is called “Blessings” by Laura Story.
And if there is anything that helps me deal with all this kind of stuff, medical issues & scary diagnoses, it’s knowing that, like that same song also says, “this is not our home.”
I pray for Amanda (and her hubby) to make it through this second cancer diagnosis even stronger than the first, with an amazing story to share of how God brought them through … Again!
In the meantime, as I pray, I’ll try to remind myself in the major tough times and even in the little struggles and trials we face every day, that God hears us when we pray. He loves us more than we could imagine. And when things happen that we can’t understand, He’s not the one hurting us; God is the one who is comforting, healing and rescuing us.
“Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?” Psalms 6:2-5 NLT
