The news has been trickling out, so I thought I’d share how amazing God is, even in the midst of dealing with my husband’s diagnosis of a brain tumor for the second time (The first time was in 2004 and God did a miracle!)
God still works miracles today!
Here’s a journal note I wrote in my Bible app back in April when this whole thing happened (and I could easily doubt and fear and freak out and wonder why the miracle had a 12 year expiration date):
This is so amazing, how God uses His own word and devotionals, like this one from Dr. Tony Evans, to speak specifically to situations we go through. Yesterday, Adam & I met with a neuro-oncologist about a “darkening” on the CT Scan Adam got on Wednesday, after he had a minor seizure.
Here’s what we read this morning by Dr. Tony Evans:
“Even though life may become dark, His light continues to burn. There is no darkness that can quench the light of God’s love. You have no reason to worry – God is with you!”
YES! Even if there’s “dark,” God’s light continues to burn (like radiation to remove and heal whatever it is!) Amen!
Dr. Tony also shared how “Your brain signals dangers in your life whether they are real or imagined. What you need to do when these worry signals happen is to assess and triage them.”
Your brain!!! We don’t have to worry. We’re assessing and triage-ing, like they did at the ER, checking Adam after the minor seizure. And I believe that means everything is going to be alright.
God’s word reassured me of that.
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” – Psalms 23:4
“Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.”

There is something special about journaling — it helps you write thoughts down instead of obsess and worry (which I tend to do … a LOT!) They say journaling helps us heal and deal with fear and anxiety. Praying for your husband, you and your children. My husband had a brain tumor in 1987. The Dr said he would probably only live for maybe 18 months. Our children were 2 and 4 yrs old at the time. He had a glioblastoma astrocitoma grade 4 tumor on both frontal lobes. After 16 months of chemo and radiation he was in remission. He lived another 25 years . His Dr called him his miracle patient. 23 years later he had a seizure which cause him to fall and hit his head and caused a hematoma. There was still no evidence that the tumor was back. He passed away 2 years later from complications from the hematoma due to the fall. He lived to see our children accept Jesus into there hearts., was there as they graduated from high school and college and was apart of their lives as they grew into amazing adults. God loved us and was with us through it all. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Della, thank you for praying. Praise God that your husband lived 25 years after that miracle — healing from a grade 4 tumor, that’s amazing! Praise God that he lived to experience all those blessings with your kids. I’m thankful for how God has been answering so many prayers with Adam. Definitely keep praying! Hello Coppelis my name Pam I’m here to tell that God is so good in 1986 we find out that my mom had a brain tumor and it was located on the brain stem and she went and had surgery and they only removed 80% doctors said it was a slowing growing tumor. But then again in 1994 I had notice she was having difficulties driving so I ask what was wrong she said she see blurry so she went to see Specialist And find out she had 7 more tumors and the one on her brain stem had gotten bigger. Well my mom went blind in 1996 after going under two major brain surgery bc of these Tumors but she is alive and well and I know one day we will get the call that she can see bc we service a good daddy God. I am very grateful to God that she is still here with us. That was 20 years ago and she has missed out on seeing a lot of stuff but she is here to enjoy it with us and only God know why he allowed this to happen and when it’s all said and done it will bring him honor and Glory. Love you sweetie
My husband is a patient at MD Anderson with glioblastoma. They have a great team there! Dr Sherise Ferguson is an awesome neuro-surgeon and Dr Weathers is a wonderful neuro-oncologist! Thru this we have learned to walk closer to our Lord and take one day at a time and enjoy it to it’s fullest! God bless you and praying for the best outcome possible! My mom was just diagnosed with a tumor on the left side of her brain stem…it has been so devastating because she went from a vibrant active woman to having no mobility on her right side…my family is strong and we are praying for healing. I wake up feeling so heartbroken but I know that I cannot let that show through because I want to remain positive. Realistically the doctors are giving her three years but I know my god is greater than that.
Hi, Ruthie! I’m really sorry to hear about your mom. Try not to stress yourself out by putting pressure on yourself to be positive… Grab a couple of Bible verses about strength and meditate on them–post them where you’ll see them. Think about them when you start to feel weak or worried. Speak them out loud to yourself and your mom… There’s power in God’s word. And I pray that he will do a miracle and get you and your family through this, in Jesus’ name.
I recently moved here to Houston. I am a 3 time brain tumor survivor. This last one a year ago left me very little use of my left side. It’s so hard. I understand how you feel, amazing how God can give us peace that passes all understanding keep leaning on Jesus
